Project Description
Spormaggiore
Spormaggiore, at 565 meters above sea level, overlooks an incredible and immense balcony on the suggestive landscape offered by Non Valley; the right place for a family-friendly holiday, surrounded by nature, without however having to give up the opportunities that the proximity to Trento and other important centers offers.
To immerse yourself in the history of the place visit Maurina, a pleasant fraction of Spormaggiore.
The tranquility and simplicity of the places, together with the friendliness of its inhabitants will make you feel immediately at home … The visit to the church dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes and the crossing, under the arcades, of the small village will fill your heart with suggestions.

The Roman road will lead you to the ruins of Castel Rovina. Here you can stop in the lawn inside the walls, or climb up to the top of the tower through the 4 floors of steel stairs recently installed and enjoy the panoramic view of the Non Valley, as well as the town of Spormaggiore.
Also just above the village of Sormaggiore are the imposing ruins of the ancient castle of Castel Belfort with the ancient crenellated tower, surrounded by vast rectangular perimeter walls. The castle dates back to 1311 and its history has been enriched over the centuries by many legends.

A characteristic that distinguishes Castel Belfort, and that has influenced its history, is the fact that it rises near Spormaggiore, in the jurisdiction of the pre-existing castle of Sporo-Rovina, as a fortress for the district of Andalo and Molveno. This explains why over the centuries has undergone many changes of ownership, due to agreements and political exchanges. The building has no medieval characteristics, it looks more like a modern fortress: an anomaly due to the reconstruction carried out by the Saracini Counts after the fire that in 1670 devastated the original castle. The Napoleonic occupation and subsequent changes of ownership contributed to its decline.
