Project Description

Walks and excursions

A few kilometers from Spormaggiore are the majestic Brenta Dolomites, UNESCO World Heritage Site, located in the heart of Adamello Brenta Natural Park and the natural setting of Altopiano della Paganella. The Dolomites group is characterized by mighty rock joints and slender forms that make them true natural cathedrals. This unique stage of towers and spiers in the world is an ideal setting for high-altitude treks or climbing on imposing walls. Among the most famous peaks we can mention the Croz dell’Altissimo (2,339 m), the Campanil Basso (2,883 m) and the Cima Tosa (3,173 t). The via ferrata like the spectacular “Via delle Bocchette” are also exciting and suggestive.

Other walks you can do near Spormaggiore are:

MALGA SPORA

Malga Spora (1872m) is one of the few alpine pastures not accessible by access roads. In summer you will see around 30 dairy cows and you can taste butter and cheese produced using traditional methods. Majestic peaks surround the lawn where you can easily find the marmot on the lookout: Cima Piz Galin, Cima di Santa Maria, Cima Fibbion, Crozzon del Brenta … if you are trained you can try to climb these peaks in one-day excursions. Malga Spora is in a very strategic position, in the middle of Brenta group: from here you can leave for different mountain itineraries for the most famous refuges of these Dolomites, such as Pedrotti, Grostè and Tuckett.

MONTE FAUSIOR – GROTTA LOVARA – MALGA VAL DEI BRENZI

Spormaggiore lies on the slopes of Mount Fausior. At altitude there is the Lovara Cave which opens at 985 meter above sea level, in the formation of the Gray Limestone and it is a single tunnel, which ends with a deep well and a meander obstructed by clay.
The entry and the visit of the same are recommended to quite experienced mountaineers with adequate equipment. Higher up is Malga Val dei Brenzi at about 1200 meters. The currently closed hut is being renovated and the lawn surrounding is suitable for a break.
