Project Description

Trentino’s lakes

The diversity of lakes in Trentino is infinite, as are their shades of colors. During your holiday at the Bio Agritur Le Millemele we recommend you to visit:

Lake Tovel is an alpine lake located on the territory of the municipality of Ville d’Anaunia in Val di Non at a height of 1178 m s.l.m. inside the Adamello Brenta Nature Park. It has also been called “bears lake” because there are some brown bears in the valley, and “red lake” due to the reddening of its waters, which took place until 1964 by the action of an alga (Tovellia sanguinea).

Lake Molveno is a real treasure chest in the splendid setting of the Brenta Dolomites. It is the second largest lake in Trentino and reaches a maximum depth of 123 meters. For an experience of tranquility in nature, we suggest you to go around the lake, a walk of about three hours, mostly flat, with picturesque views of the lake, the village of Molveno and the Brenta Dolomites.

Lake Santa Giustina is located in the center of Val di Non, near Cles, is an artificial lake, born with the construction of the imposing dam built between 1943 and 1951. The spectacle offered by the artificial basin is truly impressive and fits perfectly into the valley scenery. It is the largest of the artificial lakes in Trentino and was built on the initiative of the Edison Group in the years from 1943 to 1951. Its purpose is to collect the waters of the catchment area of the river Noce to obtain electricity. The waters of the lake creep into the canyons creating picturesque sceneries well known to canoe lovers.
